So when Tif posted her teaser video this morning before we took Carlos’ tour of Intramuros (more on that from Jen very soon), she mentioned something anticipatory about tomorrow…but do you know what is tomorrow? Allow me to explain.
MANILA TRANSITIO 1945
In February of 1945, the City of Manila was completely destroyed in a battle between the United States Armed Forces and the Japanese Imperial Army. An estimated 120,000 people were lost and our beloved City of Manila was never the same again.
Join Intramuros Administration, Carlos Celdran and multi media artists Tad Ermitano, Donna Miranda, Mabi David, Kawayan de Guia, Malek Lopez, Caliph8, Ringo Bunoan, and several other artists as they celebrate Manila – the city that was and the Manila that will be.
It will be an evening of performances, music, vintage photographs and films, video art, installations, open mic, food, drink, poetry and dance within different sections of The Fort Santiago.
Carlos’ regular Intramuros tour is integral to The Kilusan Exchange and the Collective will be lending a helping hand with this event. This is Carlos’ tour multiplied by, I don’t know, a stupid number, and we are honoured to be a part of it. Alex will be doing his thing, documenting the event through photography, and the ladies, Jen, Tif, and myself will be performing as a sort of Greek chorus to Carlos’ tour, his punctuation marks, and bearers of light.
This is our first real taste of what is to come. Toronto, handa ka na?
Any of our readers who are or know someone in Manila, spread the word about this amazing free event.
